SHAPE THE WORLD

Shape The World is a singleplayer 2D Puzzle Platformer where the player has to use each character's abilities together to complete the levels. It was developed over 2 days during the Stay Safe! Jam (March 2020) where the theme was solidarity.

Roles and Responsibilities

Initial Designs

As well as designing the Characters and Mechanics, I designed Levels 1-7.

Once we had playable levels, I noticed that the game felt quite flat and disconnected. I had the idea of implementing particles on impact and celebration on level completion, to make the game feel more responsive and rewarding.

Final Levels

The earlier levels were designed to introduce the character's abilities and how the characters could work together. After the characters had been introduced, the player was alone to solve the level.

LEVEL 1: Introduces 1st character and ability.

Character 1: Purple Circle (Jess)
Mechanic: Reduce in size.

LEVEL 2: Introduces 2nd character and ability.

Character 2: Green Spring (Dan)
Mechanic: Jump, hold Space to jump higher.

LEVEL 3: Introduces 3rd character and ability.

Character 3: Orange Square (Tom)
Mechanic: Allow others to pass through.
